Questions answered

Text analyser FAQ

Does Utilaroo save or upload my text?

No. The analyser runs locally in your browser. Your draft is not submitted to or stored by Utilaroo.

How are reading and speaking times estimated?

Reading time uses 238 words per minute and speaking time uses 130 words per minute. They are planning estimates, so your actual pace may differ.

Why can word counts differ between tools?

Editors can apply different rules to hyphenated terms, contractions, numbers and languages. Utilaroo uses the browser’s Unicode-aware word segmentation when available, with a careful fallback.

Is the readability score suitable for every language?

No. The readability estimate uses English syllable and sentence rules. Word, character and structural counts remain useful across many languages.
